How To Cut Curtain Bangs In 4 Easy Steps

How To Cut Curtain Bangs In 4 Easy Steps

Simple Curtain Bang Cutting Hacks

Curtain bangs are all the rage this season! To create a light and effortless face frame for your clients, use these simple tricks from Chris Jones (@chrisjones_hair) to cut the perfect bang using ARC Scissors Master Series 6” Paragon II.

Step 1: 45 Degree Elevation

Part the bangs down the center and in the middle of the parting, take a small section (section 1) and hold it out at roughly 45 degrees elevation. Using the axis of the shear, open and close the shear to create soft “short-to-long” cuts as you work down the section.

Step 2: Overdirect And Combine Sections

Right next to the center section, take another small section (section 2) and overdirect section 2 into section 1. When section 1 falls out is where you begin cutting section 2, this over direction will start creating the short-to-long framing shape. The Paragon II is the perfect tool for this technique because it requires a blade that is super sharp from the axis to the tip to create the subtle cutting motions without damaging the hair.

Step 3: Repeat Pattern

Repeat steps 1 and 2 until you reach the corner of your fringe. Keep in mind, overdirecting every section back to the center and controlling your elevation will keep the softness consistent.

@chrisjones_hair says, “I prefer more softness in the center and less towards the corners.”

Step 4: Clean Up Edges

Loosely holding the hair in the comb, clean up any stray or long pieces. Be cautious to not cut too much and risk removing softness!
